It's Tuesday. The cheapest megawatt on a constrained grid is the one a data center decides not to draw. Somebody has finally built a product around that and put a price on it.

The Big Story
FlexSysAI launches software that shifts AI workloads around grid constraints
FlexSysAI, an Australian company in Nvidia's Inception program, launched a platform on Monday that ties live electricity market and grid conditions to AI workload scheduling, moving compute to where power is cheap and curtailing non-critical jobs when the grid is tight. The company said it has a pipeline of Australian data centers exploring adoption and will deploy there first. No customer or commissioning date was disclosed.
Data centers need a strategy for the power crunch that is holding back the sector. Physical grid constraints are beginning to bite, and time to power is already a major constraint for operators. These pressures are likely to worsen over the next two to three years, while regulatory pressure is moving even faster as more jurisdictions look to require flexibility from large energy users.
The company said operators keep control of when workloads move, see a live price for flexibility, and can use the system to connect sooner and monetize demand response.
Feoktistov said the platform supports voluntary and mandatory flexibility regimes, with the voluntary path pitched as the route to early adoption.
Emerald AI is further along on the same thesis, with demonstrations in Phoenix, Chicago, and the UK with National Grid, and its software headed for Nvidia's 96 MW Aurora data center in Manassas, Virginia.
This is a launch, not a deployment, and the pipeline claim is the company's own.

Defense procurement becomes the US battery industry's backstop
With EV demand signals scrambled and grid procurement reshaped by last year's tax-credit changes, TechCrunch reported that US cell manufacturers are leaning on defense buyers and Defense Department lending to keep lines running. A military buyer of last resort is a new capital source in the battery stack, and it arrives with domestic-content rules and volumes that look nothing like automotive.

Arizona added 1,609 MW of batteries in the first half, second only to Texas

Arizona added 1,609 MW of batteries from January through June, behind Texas at 3,115 MW and ahead of California at 1,064 MW, per Canary Media's analysis of EIA data. That build reflects contracts signed years ago, and APS said in a July planning session that it is excluding four-hour batteries from long-term modeling in favor of six-to-eight-hour durations.
